9th July will mark the centenary of Indian filmmaker Guru Dutt. A director, producer, and actor who died at the age of 39, his body of work is frequently cited but rarely understood. Author and filmmaker Nasreen Munni Kabir made a mesmerising attempt in this direction in her 1987 documentary 'In Search Of Guru Dutt'.
I am honoured that she has agreed to show this film to mark the occasion and to inspire new conversations on not just Guru Dutt but also Indian cinema. The screening is being organised in partnership with The Revolver Club and Records Coffee in Bandra.
We will also be featuring special merchandise and memorabilia around Guru Dutt and his films. Hope to see you there.
