Ustad Bantoo (2026) Screening
15 November, 2026
6:00 PM
Bantoo, a young trumpet player in an Indian wedding band, no longer finds satisfaction in routine wedding music. His life changes unexpectedly when he encounters a street musician, sparking an obsession to discover his 'own music'. This pursuit clashes with his bandmates, who view music pragmatically, as a means to send money home to their families each month. Unburdened by heavy responsibilities, Bantoo navigates the cynical world of wedding bands with his newfound quest, risking his relationships and livelihood in the process.
Ustad Bantoo had its World Premiere at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam this year followed by an Asian Premiere at the Dharamshala International Film Festival. It was also one of the only 5 projects selected at the Work-in-Progress Lab at WAVES Film Bazaar 2025.
Now Ustad Bantoo is on a journey to complete 100 screenings across the countries all through community screenings at local screenings. Now playing in your city.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the entire team. Come witness the story of a wedding band trumpet player and be a part of this journey to a 100 screens!
